What is this website about? Providing honest insights from God’s Word that can be understood without a seminary degree. There are many different sources from which we may sometimes seek enlightenment. Oftentimes these sources offer conflicting answers. Who should we believe? The World? The secular media (TV, talk radio, the internet, books, magazines, newspapers, etc.) Public & Private teaching institutions (schools, colleges & universities and their faculties) Secular authorities (politicians, scientists, doctors, authors, speakers and other “experts”) Other Christians? The Christian media (TV, talk radio, the internet, books, magazines, newsletters, etc.) Christian teaching institutions (schools, Bible colleges, seminaries and their faculties) Christian authorities (Christian leaders, authors, speakers, pastors, respected friends) or God’s Word? Inspired, infallible, accurate and unchanging The World’s answers and viewpoints are constantly changing. There are no “ultimate” answers here---only currently stylish, politically correct fads. Although their moral views used to closely approximate that of the Christian community, that has changed dramatically. Other Christians can be a valuable source of insight, but, sadly are also vulnerable to deception and the temptation to compromise to “fit in”. It is not uncommon for many Christians to use the consensus of what most of their other Christian friends are doing (or believe) as their authority. But God’s truth is not a matter of popular consensus---you can’t determine it by taking a vote or survey. God’s Word is the only absolutely infallible authority. It never changes and is never wrong. People sometimes try to add to it (cults). Or subtract from it (the “uncomfortable” parts). And, yes---it can be misinterpreted and is sometimes deliberately manipulated by persons with an agenda (who select portions and quote them out of context). But when carefully read in context and honestly considered God’s Word provides irrefutable, unchanging truth and counsel. This is to be the Christian’s ultimate authority, by which all other fallible sources must be compared and measured.
